Beatles = The Beatles are the top-selling band of all time, with 600 million record sales worldwide — more than lapping the Rolling Stones, who are at only 240 million records. When you consider that the Beatles were only together for ten years, this difference tells you how they rocked the world with their great music.
When the joyous, high-end rocket of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” first blasted across the airwaves, America was still reeling from the November 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
““I fell in love with the Beatles’ music — the ineluctable beat, the flow of musical invention and the I-don't-give-a-.....- coolness of the Four Brits. They were doing things nobody was doing,” Bob Dylan said. “Their chords were outrageous. It was obvious to me they had staying power. I knew they were pointing in the direction of where music had to go. In my head, the Beatles were it.”
